What is Design4Impact?
Design4Impact (D4I) is a collaborative health, social, and community design initiative that unites passionate Singaporeans from all walks of life to innovate and find better ways to support vulnerable groups.
Led by the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation (MOHT), National Council of Social Service (NCSS), DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) and the Institute of Systems Science at NUS (NUS-ISS), D4I empowers social-minded innovators to develop user-centred research and design thinking skills and connects them with essential resources, funding opportunities, and collaborative networks. The goal: to co-create innovative, sustainable solutions that are deeply rooted in community needs and ownership.
D4I has tackled a range of pressing issues:
Within five years, D4I has:
Equipped over 500 participants with design thinking capabilities
Completed three successful design challenges
Developed and implemented nine community pilot projects with potential for scaling
Convened a network of partners, experts, facilitators and volunteers
Sparked a whole-of-society movement to address health and social needs – extending its impact beyond the COVID-19 pandemic
The Design4Impact innovation guide
To celebrate five years of transformative impact, MOHT and NCSS proudly present Design4Impact – A Guide for Innovators and Changemakers in Health and Social Care.
This guide distils the collective knowledge and experience of our participants, judges, advisors, facilitators and volunteers, and provides actionable steps for Singaporeans who want to drive positive change. The playbook covers D4I’s methodology, tools and case studies, serving as a valuable resource on a community-based approach to designing solutions in health and social care.
